What you need
Your SEMS email and password. It's the same account for the SEMS Portal app, SEMS+ and semsportal.com in a browser. Your installer often set it up when they connected the inverter, so ask them if you don't have it.
Your plant has to show up in SEMS already. If there's no data there, Cenit won't see any either.
How to connect it
- Download Cenit and open it.
- Tap Connect my inverter and pick GoodWe from the list.
- Type your SEMS email and password, and tap Connect.
- If your login has several plants, Cenit asks which one to open. The rest are under Plants.
- That's it. Cenit pulls in the total for each day of roughly the last year, then the curves for the last 90 days.
Does it say GoodWe didn't accept the email or password? Try signing in at semsportal.com in a browser. If it works there, it works in Cenit.
What you see from your GoodWe
What the panels save you
Tell it what you pay per kWh and what you get for power you send to the grid, and it works out about how much the panels saved you this month and this year, in your own currency. In the US it can fill in your state's average price. In Mexico you get your margin before CFE's DAC tariff instead.
What it's making now and today
The watts right now and today's kWh, the same numbers SEMS shows. The inverter's Wi-Fi uploads every five minutes, and while the app is open Cenit checks every five minutes.
Today against your best days
Drag your finger along today's curve to see what the plant was making at any moment. The dashed line behind it is the most it made at that time of day over the last 14 days. A sunny day that comes in under it means something changed.
Widgets and alerts
Today's numbers on your home screen, and a heads-up when your clear days come in lower than usual.
If you're an installer
Sign in with your SEMS installer account and every client's plant comes in. Plants shows what each one has made today, which ones stopped reporting and which are running below normal. More on Cenit for installers.
What you don't see
GoodWe reports the total for the whole plant, not each panel. A string inverter has no way to split it. So Cenit can tell you production dropped, but not which panel.
You also don't see a battery or what your home uses, only what the panels make. So far Cenit has been tested on GoodWe inverters without a battery.
Cenit and SEMS
SEMS Portal and SEMS+ are GoodWe's own apps, and some things only happen there. Cenit doesn't replace them for those.
What you still use GoodWe's apps for
Adding your plant, setting up the inverter's Wi-Fi or changing its settings. Also for the technical detail of each inverter. Cenit only reads. It doesn't change anything on your equipment.
What Cenit adds
A simple screen for today, a savings number, your curve against your best 14 days and widgets. Your history stays on your phone, so you can see it even when GoodWe's cloud doesn't answer. And if another home runs a different brand, it fits in the same app.
What it costs
For your home, nothing. Cenit is free for up to 3 plants and has no ads.
If you're an installer watching more plants, you pay by how many, once or by the month. 4 to 10 plants is 9.99 USD once or 0.99 USD a month. 11 to 49 is 39.99 USD or 3.99 USD a month. 50 or more is 74.99 USD or 7.99 USD a month. Paying once is for good. And for the first month after the app sees more than 3 plants, every one of them is open.
Questions
Is there an app besides SEMS Portal to see my GoodWe inverter on iPhone?
Yes. Cenit signs in with your SEMS email and password and shows what your plant is making, your history and your savings. It's free for a home.
SEMS won't load or connect. Will Cenit help?
It depends on what's wrong. Cenit reads the same GoodWe cloud, so if their server is down it won't get new data either, but your history is still on your phone. If the inverter lost its Wi-Fi, no app will see new data until you reconnect it with GoodWe's apps. If the app itself is slow or stuck, Cenit is another way to see your numbers.
Does my SEMS+ account work?
Yes. A SEMS+ account signs in with the same email and password and sees the same plants as SEMS Portal.
Is it safe to give Cenit my SEMS password?
Your password is kept in the iOS Keychain and only goes to GoodWe's server. Your readings stay on your phone, and you don't make an account with Cenit. The details are in the privacy policy.
Is Cenit made by GoodWe?
No. Cenit is an independent app by Hrvoje Matošić, made in Mexico, and isn't connected with GoodWe. GoodWe only gives its API to partners, so Cenit talks to the same server as the SEMS Portal app. If GoodWe changes something on their side, the connection can stop working for a while.
